What is erosion?

We watched a very short documentary about how land can change and move. I understand that erosion is when rocks brake up into small parts. When these broken rocks move this is called weathering. When the rocks move and find a new area its makes new land and this is called deposition. By Mitchell

Native birds and trees to the max!

Are there villains in nature? Well its a hard question to answer as we found out that even the nice birds and tree we have in New Zealand can some times hurt the land around us. It's part of a cycle and we are trying to understand this idea. But we all agree that the native birds and trees of our land are beautiful! Kiwi by Loimata, Tree and Kakapo by Zeb.

Hola family and friends check out what we are doing with kidpix.

Our focus this term is looking at how humans and natural phenomena can change our land. But before we looked in depth at the big idea our class talked about trees and birds in New Zealand. We looked at native trees and birds. We used kidpix to draw our findings.

Ink's go crazy on Photo Booth

WALT: Use Photo Booth, iPhoto, Bubbleshare and Blogger.

Our goal was to make a Bubbleshare and this is how it turned out. We experimented with the different effects on Photo Booth and ended up pulling some really funny faces. Hope you like our show.

Term Two Focus - Are there villains in nature?

Our focus in the Kowhai team is looking at villains in nature. This means we will be learning about what bad things happen in nature and how those bad things can effect the rest of us and even nature. I am learning that the wind and sun can be villains and we are looking at trees to see what can harm them. Can you spot the villains in my picture. Good luck!

A Late Mothers Day Card

Hey mum it's late but I wanted to say it's mothers day every day . I made you a cup of tea and gave you breakfast in bed and the last thing you got was dinner (made by dad, not you). I made this digital card on kid pix.  Hope you like it.

Holidays with my horse
In the holidays, well every holidays i go horse riding. This time my horse was Angel she was so gorgeous, I love her so much. But she was not an Angel. She bucked me off twice. Angel and another horse called Surprise like to race, it is pretty scary!.Every day we went on a track and at the end of the day we had to feed them. Apples and all the horses block all the exits making it hard for the other riders to get out. This is way scary but fun at the same time. Horse riding is cool and i love it. I love my horse.

Tree climbing
In the holidays on the first Friday Jonathan and I went to woodhill tree adventures. Once we got there the owners helped us get our harnesses on. As soon as we had done that we went off to get taught how to clip the pully and harnesses on to the ropes. After learning how to do everything we went straight off to course 1 (the easiest course). My favourite course would be course 4 but that would also be the hardest.
Jonatan and I had a great time :).

Term One

Term one was way to busy but room 16 could handle the work load and hectic schedule that the teachers of Grey Lynn planned for them.  We started the year of with our Aloha night. This is our community evening, giving teachers, students and families singing and dancing time on our school field.  The money raised will go towards buying some very much needed computers for our learning. Later on in the term our teachers had parent interviews  and although the night was rainy and cold we had an excellent turn out. The term ended with the whole Kowhai team going on a day trip to the Pacific Arts and Crafts centre in Henderson. FUN was had by all and a huge thanks to all our parents helpers. ps the kids were pretty good any way!
